On Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. the Parker Recreation Center will host a community open house for the CancerFit program. Learn more about the different exercise programs offered while meeting other survivors. A Certified CancerFit Specialist will be available to answer questions regarding the program. Registered Dietitian Loraine Cira will also be on hand to provide information regarding nutrition and how it relates to cancer treatments and recovery.

The Parker Police Department would like to take a minute to inform business owners of simple crime prevention tips that may assist law enforcement with the apprehension of suspects as it relates to video surveillance systems.

Surveillance cameras have become a growing presence in the public arena over the past several decades in stores, civic buildings and even on public streets. As part of this trend, law enforcement has increasingly used surveillance images to assist in the capture of suspects who commit crimes.

However, when law enforcement attempts to obtain evidence and capture video of suspects from property owners, they all too often discover the images are blurry or grainy, not in focus, positioned incorrectly, not recording, dates and times are incorrect, etc.

We are asking business and property owners who currently utilize surveillance cameras in and around their properties to please consider conducting weekly or monthly audits on your systems to be sure any and all evidence captured by the surveillance cameras is useful should law enforcement need it to assist in identifying a suspect committing a crime in or around your property or business.

Good video images may assist in the apprehension of suspects by law enforcement, capture crimes and prevent future crimes.

When conducting a video audit please consider the following when reviewing footage: 

• Is it running correctly?
• Is the camera positioned correctly?
• Is it positioned in the correct location?
• Are high-risk locations being recorded?
• Are the date and times correct?
• Is it recording?
• Is it in focus?
• Can you capture facial details in order to provide clear pictures or video to law enforcement?

The world premiere of a new show created for the Parker Arts, Culture and Events (PACE) Center opened tonight. COUNTRY IS, The Music of Mainstreet celebrates uniquely country music resonating with simple, honest stories of yearning, love, joy, hard-working, hard-living, hard-playing people with a multi-talented Colorado cast of three and a sizzlin’ five-piece band.

The best way to describe this show is a country music concert bring all the country music cover songs you know, love and want to sing along with to this new entertainment space on Mainstreet in Parker CO.

“It’s very unusual for an arts center in its first year to commission a show, and we are doing it in our first three months,” said Bragg. “We want to be an active incubator for the arts, not only a presenter.”

COUNTY IS, The Music of Mainstreet is on stage Jan. 27 through Feb. 12. The show stars Matt LaFontaine, Robert Johnson and Danielle Porcellini. Rick Seeber, the creator of 8-TRACK The Sounds of the ’70s, Beehive The ’60s Musical and A Brief History of White Music, has conceived and will direct this premiere musical concert.

“Country music fans will especially love the show because of the great songs from artists like Johnny Cash, George Strait and Sugarland,” said Jeannene Bragg, Cultural Director of the PACE Center. “The show is sure to entertain with a nod to Parker’s country heritage.”
