Search Engine Optimization for your Parker Website
What is SEO or Search Engine Optimization? Do I need that? Can I do it myself?
SEO is THE most important part of your online marketing strategy. If your web sight does not come up on page 1 or two Google you may as well not even have a website at all.
Your Web Chick has been doing organic Search Engine Optimization since 1998 and all of the web development projects you see in the portfolio rank on page one of Google for many search terms. You probably already know that or your wouldn’t have found this page.
How to NOT get ripped off by unscrupulous SEO’ers!
If you get an email from anyone promising you that you can come up on page one Google in 30 days if you just give them a downpayment of $1000 plus so much per month! Run far and fast away. #1 Google is a moving target and you can’t guarantee anything. #2
If you get an email saying your site can’t be found on Google… How exactly did they find you if they can’t find you? That is the question. Again … RUN!
How to find the person you want to work with to help improve your visibility on Google.
- Do the search you want to rank for and see who DOES come up. Look at that website, what are they doing that you aren’t doing, who are they using to optimize their site?
- Ask your friend whose website does rank well what they do and who they use.
- Stay local! Many people have been fooled into buying into a quick and easy SEO scheme online. Those companies set up a flashy looking website get you for the downpayment and then close down the website and move on.
- Ask other industry experts who they trust.
Search Engine Optimization
What does “optimizing” my site mean?
It includes making sure you have good searchable content that includes the key words that will bring people to your site, and having the proper codes and tagging in the rest of the “hidden” parts of your web site. It’s also crucial that you follow the Google Webmaster Guidelines so you don’t get your website black listed on the net.
What’s in a META tag?
Do these really help my site be more searchable?
Yes, and No. This is more of an SEO “old school” technique but they don’t hurt and help you the client remember what it is the pages of your website are trying to rank for.
What’s a Head Tag?
You must use Head Tags <h1> etc. in your content if you want Google to know what your website is about. If your web designer or SEO person doesn’t’ know what one is then you should run far away.
What about BLOGGING?
What is a Blog? Will they help you increase your business? Are they easy? YES, yes, yes!
A blog is an easy-to-use web site, where you can quickly post thoughts, interact with people, and drive more business and potential customers to your web site.
Simply put, a blog allows you to share your unique knowledge of your area of specialty with the general public on a regular basis without having to hire a web developer to do it for you. Once we help you to set up your blog and with a couple of hours of training, you are ready to communicate with the world about who you are, what you know, and why using your services and products is going to be good for the end user.
Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram etc. These can be a key and vital part of your SEO campaign and a very low-cost high return investment for your marketing and advertising dollars.
Search Engines Submission
Have you got a great site, but not getting any business from it? Search Engine Submission (SEO) is the most often missed part of web site setup, and one of the most important.
Google, Yahoo and Bing will find you eventually but why not give them a hand and submit yourself.
There are amazing web pages all over the net that no one but the business owner, his relatives and the designer has seen. But why can’t we find them on search engines?
Either they have no meta tags, no head tags, loads slowly, has deprecated HTML code, pages and images haven’t been optimized, the tags are incorrectly used, or the site has never been submitted to the search engines. You might also have had your website built in the past in “FRAMES” gasp…. or “Flash” double gasp so it’s pretty much impossible to rank on Google at all without thousands of dollars spent on PPC (Pay Per Click) Marketing and Advertising.
