The Sciences – They are also branching further out to the sciences by producing interactive and experiential events including Science Day and Science Night in addition to supporting programs in local front-range areas that feature activities for youth who want to enrich their minds. They are always looking to build the science program support to be one of the leading programs in the state.

Culture – Within every community, there needs to be culture and cultural awareness. CASC has two major fundraising programs each year to bring just that to our communities. The Mardi Gras is celebrated each year to bring out the flavor of true cultural heritage.

For more information visit their website at CASC4U.org on Facebook or Instagram

CASC could not plan or execute events without the help of wonderful volunteers like you. If you are interested in a particular event, want to do some service for the greater community, or are just interested in the programs we offer, we need your assistance.

Volunteering Process

We only take calls for new volunteers one day per week (Tuesdays) between 6:30 – 7:30 pm. Call 646-243-8628

  2. If our call questions fit your schedule, and you want to continue, we set up a meeting.
  3. During our one-on-one meeting, we sign your first documents and discuss a schedule that works with the CASC events and planning.
  4. We will assign you to an event leader to fit the schedule and choice.
  5. Documentation will be signed for your hours each time
  6. Check our calendar on the site for upcoming events and note days that are available.

Wineries in Parker

December 1, 2021 By Chrissy

Parker Boasts not one but two wineries within the Town of Parker limits. Outstanding Wines, Made Right Here In Colorado!

Purgatory Cellars Winery

Purgatory Cellars winery parker colorado
The first winery to open was Purgatory Cellars.

Owner Marko Ćopić originates from Jastrebarsko, Croatia, and brings 20 years of “Old World” and Mediterranean style winemaking experience to Colorado, combining them with his modern winemaking techniques to offer a vastly different wine tasting experience to the Colorado viticultural scene.

Purgatory Cellars works hard to source most of its grapes from Colorado and to exploit the qualities of Colorado’s unique climate and significant elevation features. Purgatory Cellars is working to bring specific qualities of grapes from the Western Slopes and Four Corners regions of Colorado to the Front Range.

Purgatory Cellars is making and aging wine in Amphora containers with their origin going back about 5,000 years in ancient Greek and Roman history when Amphorae were used in the preservation and transportation of various products both liquid and dry, but mainly for winemaking.

The Amphorae are made from special clay in the country of Georgia and infused with beeswax and then baked in a wood-fired kiln until the beeswax is completely infused in the pot. This wine-making technique provides flavors and characteristics different from other aging methods.

Amphora production is about 3,000 liters per year including at least 5 different varietals. You must come and try this gorgeous wine.

We invite you to stop by for happy hour M-F 3-6 and enjoy $3 glasses of wine
Purgatory Wine
18921 Plaza Dr, Ste 100
Parker, Colorado
Call (303) 600-8209

Hours Noon – 9 p.m.

The Wine Barrel Winery

The newest winery features more Colorado-style wines named for local landmarks in Parker like Hilltop White, Cottonwood Bubbly, Bradbury Ranch Red or Clarke Farms Fortitude. They have small plates of food to eat along with your wine sampling.

The Wine Barrel
11495 S. Twenty Mile Rd, #5,
Parker, 80134.
303-999-0454

They make wine on site from grapes imported from all over the world. They blend, ferment, and bottle our wine for everyone to see. Their mission is to bring the joys of wine to everyone. From those who have never tried wine, to those who only know what they like (or don’t like), to those who are wine experts, they have a glass of wine for you. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you know about wine. Their sommeliers and staff are here to help you figure out what you like, what you don’t like, and what you should try next. Stop by for a wine tasting, a glass of wine, or to pick up a bottle.

Both Wineries are open to you bringing your own food or order in. Both have gift certificates and wine club availability and of course wine by the bottle to take home.

    – Handlebar Hard Cider is the genre-busting beverage that put us on the map. Drinking Handlebar is like biting into a fresh, crisp apple right off the tree. It begins with a burst of refreshing sweetness, opens up into wholesome apple goodness, and finishes with a hint of tartness from the apple skin. Some call Handlebar “apple juice for adults”. But at 6.8 percent ABV, you might not want to drink it for breakfast the way you used to (or maybe you do. We don’t judge). Handlebar is our flagship and is changing the way people think about cider.

    – Hopped Up is Handlebar that is dry hopped with organic Citra Hops to bring out the aromatic fruitiness of the apples. It is citrusy with a burst of bright fruit flavor. It is the perfect blend of crisp and delicious and still 100% gluten free. With the hoppy familiarity of an IPA and the fruity nose of a Sauvignon Blanc it is truly the best of both worlds and what some are calling “the best tasting cider in Colorado.

Who does what in the Town of Parker

April 16, 2021 By Chrissy

Many of these events have been temporarily or permanently canceled due to Covid-19. We will update you when the information is announced.

The Town of Parker recently put together this great information sheet about what local entity does what?

The Town of Parker government is proud to provide extensive public services to the residents of Parker. Since we work so closely with other Parker organizations, it is sometimes confusing to residents as to who provides which services. We would like to take this opportunity to give you more information about which local organizations are responsible for the services you depend on.

Town of Parker

The Town of Parker is in charge of “Let Freedom Sing” 4th of July Celebration as well as the Tree Lighting the Day after Thanksgiving and the Christmas Carriage Parade.* canceled for 2021 and possibly permanently. Other local events are run by various other non-profit and business groups such as the Parker Chamber and Rotary Clubs in the area.

Parker Water Services

Water and wastewater services are provided to most Parker residents by the Parker Water and Sanitation District. The District is a separate entity from the Town and determines water rates and watering restrictions. You can contact the District at info@pwsd.org or by calling 303.841.4627.

South Metro Fire Services

Although in some municipalities the fire department is a part of the governing organization, fire protection services in Parker are provided by the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority. South Metro Fire serves an area of approximately 176 square miles in portions of Douglas and Arapahoe Counties. Protection is provided to more than 198,000 citizens. You can find more information about the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority online at www.southmetro.org or by calling 720.989.2000.

Trash Pickup and City Dump

In many areas of Parker, trash services are included in homeowner’s association fees. If you do not live in one of those areas, arranging trash pick-up is the responsibility of the homeowner. Several private companies are listed in the phone book or you may contact your homeowner’s association for more information.

Public Education

Public schools in Parker are a part of the Douglas County School District. The School District determines when and where new schools will be constructed when to build additional school amenities and all other aspects of public education. COVID-19 and Vaccination Updates – Register for Vaccine offline

February 25, 2021 By Chrissy

Douglas County Covid-19 Update

Tri-County Health Department adds operators to call center to help people without internet access register with vaccine providers

Information provided by the Tri-County Health Department

Tri-County Health Department call center

To continue to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine equitably, Tri-County Health Department’s COVID-19 call center staff will now help people 65+ who do not have internet or speak English register with COVID-19 vaccine providers. Staff members will be acting as navigators during this process, entering basic contact information while working with the caller. Although the waitlists of some providers ask for medical information during registration, call center staff will simply enter such information into the online form if needed but will not retain any personal information.  The service is free, Spanish-speaking staff are available, and other languages are available through a language line.

So far, over 260,000 vaccine doses have been administered to 179,294 Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) area residents in Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties through 146 enrolled providers and community partners, including clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, churches, and rec centers. Over 14% of TCHD’s residents have received at least their first dose, including 59.9% of TCHD’s 70+ population. In Douglas County, nearly 17% of residents have received at least their first dose, including 71.5% of the 70+ population.

The expanded work of the call center will support TCHD’s Strategy to Ensure Equitable COVID-19 Vaccine Access, which is a plan to ensure fair access and distribution of the vaccine to communities of color and other groups who have been immensely affected by the pandemic and are currently under-vaccinated compared to other groups. The TCHD call center hopes to connect these underserved communities with vaccine providers to ensure equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and TCHD community partners are also helping ensure equitable distribution by holding “Pop-up” vaccine clinics in these underserved communities to help make access to the vaccine easier for people who may not have transportation or the means to get to a medical center or large vaccine event.

“Pop-up clinics” are one-time events sponsored by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and community partners, using vaccine provided by the State’s Vaccine Equity allocation. Thus far, 24 pop-up clinics have been held or are scheduled in TCHD’s area. These clinics will provide additional vaccinations to over 8,000 people. In addition to pop-up clinics, TCHD is assessing where to place ongoing fixed community based clinics that can best offer local vaccine access on a regular basis when more vaccine supply is available.

The TCHD COVID-19 Call Center is open for people who live in the Tri-County Health Department area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 303-220-9200 for more information or for assistance with online registration. The state of Colorado’s call center can also help people register and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1-877-CO VAX CO (1-877-268-2926).

While DCL’s physical libraries are closed, customers can take advantage of the following digital resources and accommodations:

Due to DCL’s quarantine protocols, Louviers residents may return items to any other DCL location for proper quarantine of materials. Items borrowed before the library closure are due July 1. Due dates on new checkouts have been extended: 3-week checkouts now have 5-week due dates, and 1-week checkouts have 3-week due dates. No fines are being assessed.
  • Our Park & Pick-Up curbside service is available for pick-up of holds at all DCL locations. If you’ve been notified that your holds are ready, this service is for you. See the Park & Pick-Up instructions above.

  • Book donations will not be accepted during the closure.
  • We have increased cleaning and disinfection throughout our libraries, which will continue until we are advised that COVID-19 is no longer a potential threat.

DCL will post ongoing updates to its Community Safety Notice online and through its social media channels. See the library’s online Events Calendar to check the status of rescheduled events.

The closure of DCL libraries is based on guidance from health officials about limiting gatherings and employing social distancing. For more information, visit the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment or call (303) 389-1687.
