Tree City USA – Parker Colorado

Arbor Day is a fun educational event for the whole family and is an important piece to keeping Parker named as a “Tree City USA.” The Tree City USA® program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. Parker has been named as a Tree City USA each year since 1994! In order to maintain this title, a commitment must be made to enhance the public’s awareness of trees within the community through events and educational opportunities such as the annual Arbor Day Celebration. The Town must also spend at least $2 per resident on tree care such as planting and pruning.

Additional Event Information

For questions regarding the Arbor Day Celebration, please email Jaime Vollertsen at jvollertsen@parkeronline.org. Watch our instructional video on how to plant a tree, presented by Parker’s Parks and Recreation Department and view the Colorado State Forest Service planting guide.

Fieldhouse – Pinnacle Climbing Wall

May 22, 2017 By Chrissy

Parker Fieldhouse Climbing Wall Pinnacle wall parker co recPinnacle Climbing Wall at The Fieldhouse

This is form of climbing is essentially a race to see who can get to the top the fastest. Our Speed Climbing Competition is exciting for participants and spectators alike. Technical climbing skills are not as important as simply getting to the top of the wall as fast as possible, so climbers must be quick and smart in planning their next moves. The more efficient you are able to climb, the quicker you will be able to score.

Climbing Wall Resources and Information

This 25′ indoor rock climbing tower with an attached bouldering structure incorporates natural features for a realistic rock feel and, along with many hand and foot holds, presents a variety of challenges for novice and experienced climber alike. Benefits of climbing include a sense of self-awareness, a feeling of accomplishment and confidence-building in a safe, yet exciting activity. As you gain strength, flexibility and endurance you will begin to enjoy mastering more difficult routes. You need not be a super-athlete to enjoy climbing since solid technique trumps strength.

During Open Climbing our attendants are here to help. Novice climbers can be sure the harness is properly adjusted and they are tied onto the ropes correctly and safely before climbing. We offer encouragement and suggestions as we belay climbers as young as age 5 through adults. We also offer belay training for anyone 14 years of age or older.

For experienced climbers, the routes are changed often on our seven ropes and bouldering wall for a variety of challenges from 5.6 to 5.12 difficulty, or perhaps you are up to climbing “all naturals” on our seven top ropes.

We have a variety of climbing class offerings, including parent/child, teen and adult programs. For more information on these offerings please visit our registration page, select sports activities and type climbing in the keyword search.

Waiver of Liability

We must have a current Waiver of Liability (PDF) and release on file for everyone using the climbing wall. Please do not forget to read and sign the climbing wall rules portion on page 2.

“We have an amazing group of award-winning BBQ vendors and competitors this year,” said Kevin Hausmann, president of the Rotary Club of Parker CCV. “I encourage you to grab your friends and family and come out to enjoy fantastic barbecue and free live entertainment….At the same time, you’ll be helping our Rotary Club raise funds for some great causes, such as the Parker Task Force, Project Sanctuary and other projects around the world.”
