Christmas Tree Recycling in Parker Colorado & Douglas County

December 26, 2022 By Chrissy

Parker & Douglas County Christmas Tree Recycling Info

The Town will host its annual Christmas Tree recycling program from Dec. 25 through Jan. 29  2021 for Parker residents.

Parker Christmas Tree Recycling

Drop-off dates: Dec. 25 through Jan. 29
Hours: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Contact Information: Town of Parker at 303-840-9546
Mulch: Available on a self-serve basis on-site while supplies last for the first week in January

Salisbury Park (East paved parking lot), 12010 S. Motsenbocker Rd.

The drop-off is available solely for Parker residents to recycle their Christmas trees. Additional yard waste and tree branches are not permitted. No commercial tree lot disposal is allowed as our elves have a hard time removing all of the tags.

Both green and flocked real trees are accepted. Before dropping off any Christmas trees, please remove all plastic tarps, tree stands and nails, ornaments, lights, garlands, and tinsel. No artificial trees, garlands or wreathes with wire backing will be accepted.

Please drop off during park hours only, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and do not illegally dump any other items at the drop-off location.

Tree Recycling Information

The trees collected by the program will be chipped into mulch, which is available at the same site at no charge to residents. The remaining mulch will be utilized throughout the Town and not discarded in a landfill.

Residents should not place Christmas trees in garbage containers. Keeping trees out of landfills helps extend the life of landfills and produces a useful resource. The annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program is just one of many ways that Parker residents can reduce, reuse and recycle.

Please remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, garland, plastic wrap, tree stands, wire, rope, nails, etc. before bringing trees to be recycled. Live trees with artificial snow sprayed on the branches cannot be mulched. Please check with your local jurisdiction or newspaper during the holiday season as Christmas trees are typically accepted at the following locations, but are subject to change.

Southlands Center for Denver Foodies

savory spice shop drizzle and dip stores at southlands aurora colorado

For Denver Foodies you’ll find stores to purchase items to cook, bake, grill and create and a large variety of restaurants to indulge your culinary taste buds.

When you visit the Savory Spice Shop both your taste buds and your ole factory will be wide away when you walk in. The staff there is very helpful and if you let them know what you are looking for or the kinds of foods you like to make, they will direct you to fabulous taste sensations. At their partner store  Drizzle ‘n’ Dip say hello to flavored vinegar and olive oil. Sample your favorite flavors or try some new ones at this store.  You can combine oil and vinegar to create your dream salad dressing, meat marinade or bread dip, snag some recipe cards or ask for ideas.

The owners “suffered” in Jamaica for weeks working to perfect their Jamaican Jerk Seasoning and they promised this would bring me back to the islands so I had to have it. Chocolate Dark Balsamic Vinegar? Yes, please! Ideas offered from Denver Foodies and the owners were things like Mascarpone Stuffed Cherries, drizzled on strawberries, over ice cream or cheesecake, (particularly if you boiled it down a little into a syrup) drizzled over grilled Palisade peaches, on spinach strawberry salad or one friend says she thought she would just drink it straight! There are all sorts of gift ideas and packaging too.

For a quick bite check out Tokyo Joe’s, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, On The Border, Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, Phở 97 or McAlister’s Deli.

Christmas Shopping at Southlands

Christmas at Southlands Shopping Center Aurora Colorado

The Winter holidays at Southlands are magical

One of the best parts about Southlands is the ease of getting in and out of the stores where you need to shop for holiday gifts, unlike the traditional mall experience where you have to park miles away and navigate the crowds at the mall. At Southlands you are surrounded by the cheerful decor, lots of great stores both national and locally owned and there are lots of ways to get in and out of the parking lot.

The fun starts over again in the Spring with Easter Events for everyone!

Southlands Shopping Center is located at the Corner of Smoky Hill Road and Main St just East of 470.

truck or treat off mainstreet

Mainstreet is frightfully fun with ghouls and goblins throughout the land… so set off on your quest for sweets.

The PACE Center has authorized its lot to be used which is located at 20000 Pikes Peak Ave, Parker, CO 80138, There is street parking around the PACE Center and down Pikes Peak Court and Pikes Peak Drive.

H2O’Brien Parking Lot will be open for use.

Be sure and bring your camera to snap keepsake fall shots of all the fun your family is having and a Trick or Treat bag to hold all your tasty treasures.

Our favorite moment from past Trick or Treat off Mainstreet: Thriller Flash Mob, watch for rumors of the time to be revealed on social media.

The decades-old Trick or Treat on Mainstreet event has been a tradition for lots of families in Parker but with the growth and traffic concerns changes are being made. Not only will the event be OFF Mainstreet this year, but it’s also happening the Saturday before Halloween instead of on the date. I think that’s a great change. This part of the Halloween celebration will be in the Parker Station parking lot.

TRUNK OR TREAT OFF MAINSTREET VENDOR INFO

1 – WHAT IS THE TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT?

Our Trunk or Treat off Mainstreet event is a Parker Tradition with a spin. We have the Rear Parking Lot off Parker Station as a secure safe location for children & families to come trick or treat, hear music, see entertainment and just have fun.

Trunk or Treat is easier on our Vendors as you will be decorating your vehicle versus setting up a booth. Easier set up and take down plus fun for everyone.

2- WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT AS A VENDOR?

  • Bring your Car/Truck/Van and decorate the trunk for Halloween
  • Bring enough goodies to hand out to 1,500 kids (we’re limiting entries to 1500 children per Parker Police request)
  • Some examples: Candy, Rub on Tattoos, Stickers, Bracelets, Glow sticks, bouncy balls, etc.
  • As a Sponsor, we are giving you an opportunity to place your own items in the Parents Swag Bags that each family will receive at check-in.
  • Examples are business cards, literature, coupons, specials, swag etc.
  • Cost for a vendor spot is $25 for DBA Members or $40 for non-DBA members

Overall we priced out this event & it should cost a vendor total around $500. Obviously

Town of Parker offering St. Patrick’s Day Activities

saint patricks day fun in parker colorado

The Town of Parker is excited to welcome Lucky the Leprechaun back to our community this year for his second annual appearance around St. Patrick’s Day!

Lucky will be strolling (and hiding) around Mainstreet the Saturdays before and after St. Patrick’s Day (March 12 and 19) from noon to 4 p.m. While Lucky is in Town, residents and visitors are invited to participate in a game of “Seek Out the Shamrocks,” as our favorite Leprechaun will be hiding 17 shamrocks throughout the community.

Can you spot Lucky and find the shamrocks? If so, you might win a prize! Just post a photo of either a hidden shamrock or Lucky himself on the Town’s Facebook page @TownOfParkerCO) by 10 a.m. Monday, March 21 to be entered into a drawing for a prize basket. Community members are eligible to enter multiple times as long as they spot Lucky the Leprechaun on different days and seek out multiple shamrocks!

For more information, about this fun St. Patrick’s Day activity, visit www.ParkerOnline.org/Events or call 303.805.3253.

There are a couple of local bars that are having green festivities in honor of St Paddy’s Day in Parker… take a look below!

Saint Patrick’s Weekend Bash at Barnett & Son Brewing Co.

18425 Pony Express Dr, Parker, CO 80134

March 17, 18 & 19 3-9 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, which was all the motivation Barnett & Son needed to host a 3-day celebration to showcase some of their favorite Irish and Scottish-inspired beer styles. Usual suspects Saoirse Irish Red, and Falling Skye Scottish Ale will join a batch of Mo Chroi Irish Black Ale made for the holiday, with a green beer on tap for good measure. The long weekend will include daily performances by the Celtic Steps dance group and Centennial’s Reed School of Irish Dance, and live music by Juice O’ The Barley on Friday and Saturday.

Mo Chroi Irish Black Ale gets its color and full body from the unplanned addition of Roast instead of Special Roast malt to a batch of wheat. The final beer struck a balance between deep malt flavor upfront and clean, subtle bitterness on the finish that characterizes many Irish-style ales, so it earned a place in the annual St. Patrick’s Day lineup.

Keep the specialty glass while supplies last, buy a special t-shirt made for the occasion, and come hungry for Irish-inspired eats prepared by three food trucks: The Family Meal will serve on Thursday, Schnitzelwirt on Friday, and Uncle Tapas on Saturday.

Celtic Pub Goes Green

The Celtic House Pub is located at 16522 Keystone Blvd., Parker, CO.
They don’t have any events listed on their socials or website but we assume they’ll have green beer & Guinness on St Paddy’s Day
